I'm not sure how well you can tell in the bump pics, but Mark and I agree that the belly got bigger in the last couple days. By now, the bean is 15 inches long and weighs about 2.5 pounds. I'm amused by all the fruit and vegetable analogies the baby websites give you for the size of your baby. This week he weighs as much as a butternut squash, ha. They certainly have to reach for some of these, one week he was an English hothouse cucumber. I'm not even sure I know what that is! Here is the bump for the week:
This weekend we took a quick visit up to Atlanta to visit with family and go to our nephew Wesley's dedication at church. He made a big splash at church by trying to eat the microphone during the prayer:) We were also able to acquire some handy consignment baby things. Nothing major but a few useful things like baby beach hats. But with 11 weeks left, it's time to get cracking on baby prep!

28 Week Update
It's been a busy work week around here (despite it being a short week), so there isn't much to report on the baby front. The bean has been very active lately and his movements are now big enough that I can see my belly move when he kicks or squirms around. It's quite amusing to watch the show!
Next week I have my 28 week check up that includes a gestational diabetes screening test. We're hoping that comes back with the all clear! It would be difficult to give up my nightly bowl of ice cream :) I'm still feeling good, though my energy levels are definitely going down. It's been an adjustment to get back to teaching the last couple weeks since I have both my classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. It's tough to get through that 2nd class!

27 Week Update
This week marks the beginning of my 3rd trimester! We're getting closer to the end, though it still seems a long way away before we get to meet the bean. But since the semester started last week, I'm guessing the next 3 months will go by very fast. This week is also important developmentally too since his lungs are now working fairly well, the chances of survival should he come early are improved, and he can open his eyes now. From here on out it's mostly additional lung development and putting on pounds.
Generally, I'm feeling pretty good these days. Slowly but surely though it's getting a little harder to maneuver and I keep bumping my belly into things. My latest struggle has been finding dressy shoes for teaching that actually fit. My feet have been swollen since pretty early on, and it's not getting any better. I already have big feet too, so it's hard to find shoes that fit me even when they aren't swollen! I may just resort to wearing flip flops to class and telling my students they can deal with it :) And while I was able to still wear most of my regular shirts until recently, every week now it seems I'm playing the "what shirt will fit this week" game. So it will be more laundry for me while I cycle through the handful of maternity shirts that I have!

26 Week Update
According to various online sources, our little guy is about 14 inches long now and almost 2 pounds! As expected my doctor's visit this week was uneventful. I heard a nice strong heartbeat and everything is measuring right where it should be. I will now start going every 3 weeks, just another sign that things are moving fast. I'm getting lots of kicks and movements too and they are getting stronger.

25 Week Update
Happy New Year! Our New Year's Eve was quite uneventful. I was pretty tired after driving back to Pensacola, so I wasn't up to much more than watching TV. I did manage to stay up long enough to celebrate the new year in Eastern Time, but not Central:) I had a great visit with family and friends though, and now sad that it's back to work so soon.
While in Orlando, I did pick up some furniture at Ikea for the nursery. They didn't have a crib that I liked but I did pick up a dresser. So now we can get all the clothes we've been getting off the floor! The nursery is currently just acting as a place to store some of the baby items we've picked up and we haven't done much to it. But with 15 weeks left, I guess it's time to get on that. We're going with a sailing/beach theme for the nursery which is certainly appropriate for where we live. If you're curious, you can see some of the things we've picked out at our online registry here: http://babyli.st/baby-blalock-registry. Etsy.com has lots of cute decorative things related to sailing! We don't have any baby stores near us, so we're going to have to order most stuff online. Hence the online universal registry.
The bump has expanded this week, though some of that could be eating lots of tasty holiday food:
I have my 6 month check up next week, though hopefully everything is fine and I won't have much to report!
